Coimbatore: The DMK youth wing secretary has stated that the party aims at acquiring a cent percent victory in the local body elections in Coimbatore. Udhayanidhi Stalin attended the booth committee meeting in CODISSIA, here on Sunday.
A consultative booth committee in-charge meeting for Municipal Corporation, Municipality, Town Panchayat and Urban Local Body Elections on behalf Integrated Coimbatore District DMK was held at the CODISSIA complex on Sunday, in which the DMK Youth Wing Secretary Udhayanidhi Stalin participated. More than 10,000 party functionaries and workers, were present at the meet.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Senthil Balaji stated that MLA Udhayanidhi Stalin has created a record by bringing in 24-lakh members to the party with 10,000 per constituency. He said, "In the coming days, we have taken the pledge to turn Coimbatore a stronghold for Stalin under the youth secretary’s chairmanship.”
The Minister pledged to win the local body polls and stated the past victories of others were merely a ‘mystical image’ which shall soon be changed, post the elections. Senthil Balaji stated that the lost glory in Coimbatore will be restored by the youth secretary and all the local body representatives, including the mayor of the corporation, will be from DMK and shall be handed over to the party chief.
Addressing the gathering, Udayanidhi Stalin mentioned that the booth committee meeting has been held in grandeur for the first time in Coimbatore only. He criticized that the locals disappointed them in the assembly elections, although the hospitality was exceptional.
He added that corrupt people will soon be convicted and that persons like Minister Velumani have offered money to people. Sooner will he, (Velumani), be convicted and added that the Chief Minister aims to create TN as No.1 rather than calling himself that. He also said that the party, DMK has worked not just for the persons who voted for them, but also for those who did not.
"MLAs and ministers worked round the clock during the Corona period in Coimbatore, as per the chief minister's orders. We have also kept our promise to offer free travel for women in public transport within 10 days of assuming office which the AIADMK termed impossible. The Chief Minister is the first in India to put up dash board to bring people's grievances and petitions to his notice.”
Udhayanidhi reminded that MK Stalin was the first to take action during the Chennai floods and also toured the entire state to review and offer relief during incessant rains. He mentioned that the people of Coimbatore have promised a 100 per cent victory in the coming urban local body elections and a minute book has been issued to the part agents. He advised the people of Coimbatore to stay close to Minister Senthil Balaji and that the minister will do the needful to the locals.
Although losing the assembly elections in Coimbatore, he said, the party has acquired the ‘fort’ and the next goal is to get a cent percent victory in the local polls and that they will not rest until it is achieved.
He named a baby boy as Udhaya Suriyan at the beginning of the event and later introduced the minute book. There was a chaos while he took pictures with the workers.
