The Narcotics Intelligence Bureau (NIB) officials went on to raid pharmacies in Tirupur after allegations of the sale of analgesics used during childbirth were sold without doctor’s prescriptions and were being used as drugs in Tirupur.
The officials of the Anti-Narcotics board inspected three private dispensaries in Poyampalayam and Chettipalayam areas. The bills and vouchers of the sale have been seized and the officers are examining if the medicines were given with or without a doctor's prescription.
They have also registered a case under Section 64 of Drugs Act, 1945 and investigations are underway. The incident has caused quite a stir in Tirupur.
