Coimbatore: The arrest of more than 10 DMK workers for allegedly interfering in the Naam Tamil Party protest in Coimbatore today has caused a stir.

Protest is taking place across various parts of Tamil Nadu on behalf of the Naam Tamil Party, demanding the release of Islamic prisoners, jailed for more than 20 years, including those convicted in the Coimbatore blasts case, and seven convicted of the Rajiv murder case.

When Tamils protested in Morappur, Dharmapuri district, there was great excitement as the DMK launched a surprise attack. It is noteworthy that Seeman, who was interviewed in this regard, was harshly critical of the DMK.

Meanwhile, a protest was held in front of the Coimbatore South Taluk Office led by Naam Tamil Party coordinator Seeman.

Following the incident in Dharmapuri, the police were on high alert at the protest location, as a precautionary measure. DMK party members arrived at the protest venue, shortly before the protest started. The police urged them to leave. A verbal argument between the police and the DMK broke.

Following this, the police arrested more than 10 members of the DMK, escorted them into a van and drove them away.

This was followed by a protest by the Naam Tamil Party. Seeman, who participated in the protest, told reporters that religious discrimination was shown during the release of prisoners during the AIADMK regime and subsequently in the DMK regime.

He alleged that DMK thinks that no one should speak out against the government in Tamil Nadu. They said they will welcome if the government does good and condemn if they make a mistake. He also stated that DMK is doing what the mentally-ill BJP is doing while we are always commenting against it.
