After a school wall in Nellai collapsed killing students for Corporation Commissioner Rajagopal Sunkara ordered to locate and demolish old, dilapidated government schools in Coimbatore. The old school buildings in Coimbatore were subsequently inspected on the orders of the District Education Officer.
Coimbatore: A total of 23 schools have been identified across Coimbatore and demolition work of dilapidated school buildings has begun. The old school buildings in Coimbatore were subsequently inspected on the orders of the District Education Officer. Corporation employees have been involved in the demolition of the building since then. Demolition work of dangerous buildings is being carried out at the Corporation School at Coimbatore Big Bazaar Road, Kalapatti, Ganapathy and Avarampalayam. The old building of the Corporation Middle School on Coimbatore Big Bazaar Road was identified to be damaged and the demolition of the old building of the school is currently underway.
