The Health Department has intensified checking at the Walayar border. 11 international passengers who arrived in Kerala have contracted the ‘variant of concern’ and have been hospitalized for treatment. The spread of the disease may reportedly increase through affected relatives or contacts. In view of this, surveillance has been intensified in the Walayar area on the Kerala-Coimbatore border limits.
'Vehicle searches have increased at the Walayar border after 11 people have been confirmed positive with the Omicron variant, in Kerala. The Revenue, Health and Police are into the process. Those carrying certificates of two doses of vaccine or a certificate of RTPCR 'Negative' taken within 48 hours are only allowed. On behalf of the Veterinary Department, disinfectant is being sprayed on the vehicles,' stated a Health Department official.
