Construction of pumping stations is underway at 6 locations including Nallagavundanpalayam and Thiruvarur, and ponds are to be fitted with a device called a solar-powered outlight sensor system.
Coimbatore: Officials in charge of the Athikadavu-Avinashi Project stated that work was underway to install sensor equipment in the ponds. The sensor device is to be fitted in the ponds selected under the project. The Athikadavu-Avinashi project is expected to enrich 1,045 ponds in Coimbatore, Tirupur and Erode districts.

Work is underway to lay a concrete floor and this tool can be monitored and controlled by engineers from a specific location. With the help of a computer, the amount of water that needs to be released according to the existing water level plan in the pond can be known and water can be released accordingly.
The Project Officer stated that the Athikadavu-Avinashi project is 90 percent complete and work on fitting the sensor tool in the pond is expected to begin soon.
