Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu Housing Minister S. Muthusamy and Information Minister MP Saminathan attended a review meeting at the Tirupur District Local Planning Board office today. The meeting was attended by Housing Secretary, Tirupur District Collector Vinith, Corporation Commissioner and local planning board officials. When the ministers left after the meeting, Mathivanan from Tirupati district submitted a petition to the Minister of Housing, S. Muthusamy.
The petition said that Yuvraj, a project officer working in the Tirupati district, has been receiving bribes with the help of brokers. He alleged that the files were put on hold and they were asked to come back later if they went directly. He said at least Rs 1 lakh per file is being demanded and alleged that no action was being taken even after multiple petitions in this regard. He said corruption was rampant in the local planning board office not only in Tirupur but in all areas and demanded that the minister take immediate action. The person who lodged a bribery complaint against the departmental officials with the minister caused a stir in the office of the project board
