Police are investigating the cause of death after finding the body of a young wife in a locked house in Tirupur.
Tirupur: Shakuntala from Kulathupudur area in Tirupur Central Police Station limits had rented out houses to migrant workers from North India. A young man and his wife from Orissa who were tenants in a portion of Shakuntala's house had reportedly not paid the rent and the house portion they lived in too had been locked for two days.
Neighbours noticed that a stench was emanating from the locked house and complained to the Tirupur Central Police Station. Police officials rushed to the spot following the complaint and broke open the lock of the house. They were shocked to find the body of Narayani Gina, the woman from Orissa, on the bed with scars around her neck.
During the police investigation, it was discovered that there were occasional fights between the couple. Police are investigating if the husband could have found his wife Narayani Gina hanging in the house and tried to rescue her or if he had himself killed her. The case is being registered as a suspicious death and police are on the look out for the deceased's husband.
