Elephant herd blocked the government bus that was travelling to Ketti last night. After a while the herd left and the bus was able to leave from there. The forest department has advised travellers to be careful while using this road as elephant movements are on the rise.
Coimbatore: The road from Manzoor in the Nilgiris district to Coimbatore is via the Ketti Hills. This road is the main road from Manjur to Coimbatore via Kethi, Velliyankadu and Karamadai. Various vehicles, including government buses, ply on this route every morning and evening.
The presence of dense forest is noticeable on either sides of the Manjur-Coimbatore road. Thus, it is customary for wildlife migrating from one area of the forest to another to roam the road. Currently, there is an increase in the movement of wild elephants with two calves on this road. They are found roaming on roads in the morning and from time to time they block the government buses using this stretch.
