Coimbatore: BJP National Women's Wing leader and Coimbatore South Assembly constituency member Vanathi Srinivasan met reporters in the Coimbatore Kavundampalayam area today.

She was speaking on the reports that money was being extorted from coir companies operating in the Pollachi area of Coimbatore using the name of the ruling party, especially in the name of ministers. She said the CM should take note of this and take appropriate action as victims are reluctant to report. Steps must be taken to make District Collectors investigate the incident. The GST Council has announced a 12% increase in GST on handloom varieties from January. She said this must be explained.
She also added, "We will make a request to the Union Finance Ministers in this regard. The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu should insist on fulfilling this request through the Minister of Finance of Tamil Nadu. Garbage collection is getting worse as far as Coimbatore Corporation is concerned. Every time people put this problem before them. They have said that the roads will be repaired as soon as possible and if it is not done within a month there is no other option but to mobilize the people and protest."

Speaking on the assassination of the Kerala BJP OBC secretary, she said the assassination was currently being carried out by the Communist government in Kerala with the support of groups that could promote religious extremism. She demanded that the NIA investigate these killings. She termed these killings as planned murders and therefore said that the state government should leave it to the NIA to investigate.
