Students complained in tears to the District Educational Officer that the Headmistress indulged in caste slurs and asked them to clean toilets.
Tirupur: The Government High School located in Tirupur Iduvai area has been operational for Classes 6 to 10.
More than 400 students are studying in this school. Of the 14 teachers in the school, 12 are permanent teachers and two are part-time teachers. Geetha has been the headmistress of the school for the last three years.
The school currently runs classes on a rotational basis, six days a week. Students from the school have complained that the Headmistress Geeta has been speaking to them derogatorily and ridiculed students from underprivileged communities.
The complaint had gone to the District Educational Officer, Ramesh who went to the school on Friday to inquire about it. The students reportedly were in tears while complaining to the District Educational Officer that the headmistress has been telling the students to clean the toilets and using obscene language and casting slurs based on caste.
When asked about the incident, the District Educational Officer Ramesh stated that a report was being prepared regarding the investigation held on Friday morning and that appropriate action would be taken once the report was ready.
