AIADMK to protest against DMK-led Govt. demanding that state taxes on petrol and diesel should be reduced immediately along with other demands for farmers and sanitary workers.
Coimbatore: Even as AIADMK is to protest against the DMK-led Government near the Coimbatore Red Cross on Friday, the former AIADMK minister S P Velumani has appealed to the public in Coimbatore saying, "The DMK Government has not fulfilled some of its important election promises. Thus, we are holding a protest on behalf of the AIADMK near the Coimbatore Red Cross tomorrow condemning the DMK."
The AIADMK cadres demanded that state taxes on petrol and diesel should be reduced immediately. "Adequate compensation should be provided to farmers who have lost their crops due to floods caused by incessant rains. Incentives should be provided to sanitary workers to provide rehabilitation assistance to people affected by the monsoon floods and to reopen Amma mini clinics. Pongal gifts should be given to everyone to help celebrate Pongal," they added.
The protest is being held to condemn the DMK Government for failing to do various work as promised in the interest of the people, especially against the sharp rise in prices of essential commodities due to Government negligence. The protest is also taking place against cancellation of over 500 contracts allotted to provide basic amenities for the people of Coimbatore district, including dilapidated roads in the Corporations.
