Siravai Adheenam Kumaragurupara has appealed to the Tamil Nadu government to declare Palani as a ‘Holy City’ and has also requested that development work should be carried out.
Mentioning the recent renovation of the Varanasi Temple by the Prime Minister, he stated that major temples in Tamil Nadu have to be renovated similarly and as a first, the works should begin from the Palani temple.
He stated, “The temple in Varanasi has been expanded to 5-lakh sq. ft and a large number of facilities have been provided so that thousands can gather at the same time.” Adding about the ban on meat shops in Kashi, Adheenam has requested to ban the sale of alcohol in liquor selling outlets and bars for a particular distance, as devotees visit the city on the Holy ‘padayatra’.
He requested to declare Palani as a ‘Holy City’ and increase toilets, bathing facilities, and shelters. He also demanded that the transport, spiritual tourism facilities be similar to that of Tirupati on behalf of the Muruga Devotees Council.
