Coimbatore: Former IAS officer and the chief of Samuga Samathuva Padai Katchi, Sivakami submitted a petition to the district collector seeking restoration of Panchami lands seized from those belonging to the scheduled cast.
Samuga Needhi Katchi head Paneerselvam accompanied Sivakami on Wednesday.
In the petition, she had requested to restore the Panchami lands of the scheduled cast people from Karamadai, Kuttuyur, Thekkampatti, Annur, Sulur, Perur, Madukkarai, Pollachi, Kinathukadavu and other scheduled tribes in the district and the lands provided and seized from the Adi Dravidar community.
Sivakami stated that she has also demanded to change the work time of the sanitary workers of the city corporation and municipal areas, from 6 am to 7 am keeping in mind the situation of their families. The district collector has been sought to recover the 20-acre land captured by the former AIADMK MLA of Kinathukadavu, Ettimadai Shanmugam.
She added that a general inquiry will be held under retired Justice Chandru in January on the brick kiln issue in Thadagam. Alleging the government does not heed attention to the Panchami land issue, she stated that the District Collectors were also not taking note of it.
Criticizing people who pay for the seized Panchami land she stated that the act was against the Panchami land norms and urged that the government take measures to restore the lands, as promised.
