C K Ranganathan, Chairman, CII Southern Region said, Swaminathan was a visionary leader and had contributed immensely for the industrial development in South India and more particularly in Tamil Nadu.
Coimbatore: Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Southern Region has expressed grief over the demise of Former Chief Executive of PSG Institutions and Past Chairman of CII Southern Region C R Swaminathan.
Swaminathan, who was 74 years old, passed away on Tuesday morning in Coimbatore.
C K Ranganathan, Chairman, CII Southern Region said, “Swaminathan was a visionary leader and had contributed immensely for the industrial development in South India, and more particularly in Tamil Nadu. He has brought a new dimension to Industry-Institute partnerships in the southern region with his rich knowledge and expertise in higher education and industrial research”, he added.
Suchitra K Ella, Deputy Chairperson, CII Southern Region said, “It’s very sad to hear the news of Swaminathan’s unexpected demise. His services, leadership, warmth and mentorship to CII southern region will not be forgotten”.
Dr S Chandrakumar, Chairman, CII Tamil Nadu said that Swaminathan was a proactive leader both in Industry and academia. He was instrumental in the industrial development in and around Coimbatore. He was a wonderful human being and a great mentor.
Dr R Nandini, Past Chairperson, CII Tamil Nadu said, "We have been fortunate to have amongst us, very few passionate visionaries who vouched for a holistic development of this region. CRS as we fondly call him, is undoubtedly one among them. His exuberant persona will be deeply missed".
V Arjun Prakash, Chairman, CII Coimbatore zone said, "Swaminathan was our mentor in undertaking many of CII's path breaking initiatives and he continued to play a key role in strengthening CII's network and growth in this part of the State. His demise is a big loss to all industry stakeholders and community members alike".
During his leadership in the Southern Region under various capacities, he was instrumental in strengthening the membership in zones, especially in tier II cities. He has also played a key role in leadership development in the Southern Region and provided mentorship to young leaders to play an active role in CII initiatives.
He had led many important initiatives and Committees for CII over the last three decades. He was the Chairman of CII Southern Region during 2009-10 and was the Chairman of CII Tamil Nadu State Council during 1997-98.
