7 child labourers working in a private company rescued by officials

Upon the orders of District Collector Sameeran, Vijayakumar, the Director of the Child Labor Prevention Project, set up a child line and inspected the company. The study revealed that 7 child labourers under the age of 13 were employed. District Child Labour Prevention Project Director Vijayakumar lodged a complaint with the police.


Coimbatore: Authorities rescued seven child labourers who had been working for a private company and handed them over to rescue homes.

Seven child labourers from the Thondamuthur Kulathupalayam were rescued and handed over to the homes. There is an areca nut industry owned by Sudhakar, 40, in Rani Rajalakshmi Nagar, Kulathupalayam near Thondamuthur.

More than 25 families from Assam live and work here. A complaint has been lodged with the district administration that child labourers are being employed here. Following this, as per the order of District Collector Sameeran, Vijayakumar, the Director of the Child Labor Prevention Project, set up a child line and inspected the company. The study revealed that 7 child labourers under the age of 13 were employed.

District Child Labour Prevention Project Director Vijayakumar lodged a complaint with the police. Following the complaint, the Thondamuthur police registered a case against Sudhakar, the owner of industry, under the Child Labour Prevention Division. The 7 child labourers, who were hired, were handed over to the rescue home by the Childline organization.
