The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister will be arriving at Coimbatore at 5 pm and will travel to Coonoor by road at 6 pm this evening.
Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, M K Stalin will arrive in Coonoor via Coimbatore to conduct an in-person inspection of the military chopper crash carrying Chief of Defence Staff, Bipin Rawat and 13 others.
An event had been organized at the Defence Staff Services College in Wellington on Thursday for which 14 members including CDS General Bipin Rawat and his wife were travelling.
Two helicopters left Coimbatore for the event at the Defence Staff Services College in Wellington. One of the helicopters which was 10 km from the Wellington Training College crashed in a forest area near Coonoor close to Nanjappa Inn.
Seven army officers have reportedly been killed in the crash, with four bodies already recovered and three others recovered now. CDS Chief’s wife Madhulika Rawat has been declared dead, while the CDS Chief's condition is still unknown
Meanwhile, Chief Minister M K Stalin who spoke to the Nilgiris regime on the helicopter crash inquired in detail about the rescue operations. He has also directed the District Collector to ensure appropriate medical treatment for those involved in the accident. At this stage, the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin will visit Coimbatore to conduct an in-person inspection of the crash site near Coonoor.
The Chief Minister will leave Chennai Airport at 5 pm and arrive at Coimbatore Airport at 6 pm. From there, the Chief Minister will travel by road to Coonoor.
