Coimbatore: Police have registered a case against three youngsters for setting fire to a two-wheeler during a drunken brawl in Coimbatore.
Murugapandi hails from the Ganapathi Kamarajapuram area of Coimbatore. He is working as an officer in Coimbatore Corporation. He was standing in front of his house yesterday.
At the time, three drunken youngsters who came there were shouting loudly. Murugappandi questioned their behaviour. The dispute heated up when the enraged youngsters got into an argument with him. Three of them then attacked Murugapandi and fled from there.
They went to another street in the area and climbed a two-wheeler that was parked in front of one Gopinath's house and started creating a ruckus. Gopinath chided the youngsters when he saw them sitting on his wife's two-wheeler. They fought with Gopinath as well and left the place.
Later, after a while, Gopinath came out of his home again and was shocked to find that the two-wheeler was on fire. Two separate complaints were lodged at the Saravanampatti Police Station against the youngsters involved in the incidents.
Police investigation revealed that Tamilarasan (28), Arun (21) and Pravin Kumar (24) from the same area were involved in the incident. The police arrested the three and filed a case and remanded them in custody.
Similarly, Saravanampatti police have received a complaint that the motorcycle of Rajasekar, who owns a grocery shop near the scene, had also caught fire. Police are investigating.
