The Singanallur Lake sprawls for an area of about 288 acres in an environment where the adjoining water bodies can be used to store water to the full capacity of the lake in collaboration with the government and the NGOs. The Corporation declared Singanallur lake as an Urban Biodiversity Conservation Zone in 2017 and has been taking measures to preserve it.

Singanallur lake is being maintained as an ecological water body. The organization called Cube is carrying out this work in collaboration with the District Administration and the Corporation.

Singanallur Lake is maintained as a sanctuary dedicated to bringing its water capacity to the fullest extent and presenting a wide variety of flora and fauna.
The Corporation Commissioner, who visited the lake, walked around it for about 2 km and enquired about the taxonomy of the plants grown there and the living conditions of the bird and insect species.

City Engineer A. Lakshmanan, East Zone Assistant Commissioner Murugan, East Zone Assistant Executive Engineer Prabhakaran, Zonal Health Officer Chandran, Assistant Engineer Saravanan and volunteers were present during the inspection.
