Coimbatore: A 39-year-old man who was associated with Scripture Union, a Christian Organisation was remanded under POCSO act for sending lewd messages to one of his student, 9 years ago. 

A 21-year-old college student from Kuniyamuthur had lodged a complaint with the Ramanathapuram All Women's Police Station against Samuel Jaisunder (39) who sent pornographic messages while she was studying in school, nine years ago. 

Now, a third-year student of a private college, the complainant stated that Samuel Jaisunder, who taught skill development and English proficiency, got students' cell phone numbers to send information related to the subject. 

However, he misused the numbers and sent lewd messages to her. Following which she reportedly blocked his number. His behaviour triggered shock and left her in a state of depression, yet did not disclose the matter to anyone,all these years. 

Recently, after similar allegations surfaced on social media regarding Samuel Jaisunder and actions being taken against such offenders, the 21-year-old complinant gathered strength and decided to complaint against Samuel Jaisunder at All Women's Police station, in Ramanathapuram here. 

Following this, the police interrogated Samuel and booked him under Sections 11 (iv) (sexual harassment through electronic gadget) and 12 (punishment for sexual harassment) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. He was produced before a judge and remanded in judicial custody.

It may be recalled that following serious allegations, Scripture Union & CSSM Council of India placed Samuel Jaisunder, Secretary, English Department under suspension with immediate effect, said a release from Joshua Kirubaraj, National President of Scripture Union & CSSM Council of India, a few weeks ago. 

The action comes from the organisation that propagates the Bible to school students across Tamil Nadu, after chats of Samuel Jaisunder, a preacher from Tamil Nadu was allegedly chatting to students in an inappropriate language. Several such chat conversations surfaced in social media, recently. 

Three other staff namely Reuben Clement, Albert and Janet Ebenezer who have been mentioned In connection with the issue are currently under investigation, scripture union then said in its release. 

"Welfare of children and young people is of paramount importance to Scripture Union and we take all necessary steps to ensure that our staff and volunteers maintain the highest standards and good practices", it added.
