'Instead of arresting Saidai Sadiq for his derogatory remarks against women, why did they arrest Annamalai?' BJP State Vice-President, Prof. Kanakasabapathy

DMK Spokesperson Saidai Sadiq reportedly made derogatory remarks against women in Tamil Nadu in the presence of State Minister, Mano Thangaraj and other senior DMK functionaries. Hence, the BJP State Vice-President urged the DMK Head, M K Stalin to take necessary action to protect the dignity of women in Tamil Nadu.

Coimbatore: BJP State President Annamalai staged a protest in spite of a Government ban, in Chennai's Nungambakkam area on Thursday, demanding action against DMK Spokesperson Saidai Sadiq and other DMK cadres for making derogatory remarks against women.

The protesters demanded action against other DMK cadres gathered with the DMK Spokesperson. Thereafter, BJP leaders, including Annamalai were arrested for protesting in spite of the ban.

In Coimbatore, over 200 BJP cadres including women, led by the BJP District President Balaji Uthamaramaswamy were also detained in the Gandhipuram area of Coimbatore for staging a road blockade against Annamalai's arrest.

Condemningthe arrest of BJP leaders, including Annamalai in Chennai, the BJP State Vice-President, Prof. Kanakasabapathy issued a statement saying, "The DMK Spokesperson, Saidai Sadiq has spoken unparliamentary words referring to senior BJP office-bearers - Khushboo Sundar, Gauthami and Gayatri Raghuram in the presence of the State Minister, Mano Thangaraj and several other senior DMK functionaries. Sadiq falsely accused the world's largest party, the BJP, of growing in Tamil Nadu due to the aforementioned women leaders.

Further, he also insulted Union Home Minister Amit Shah. BJP is a party that admires women; a party that worships the nation as 'mother.' A large number of women have been given representation in the Modi cabinet. Nirmala Sitharaman, who hails from Tamil Nadu, is India's first woman Defence Minister. Under the Modi government, women are benefiting a lot."

"A protest was held on behalf of the BJP's Women's Wing at the Valluvar Kottam in Chennai to demand justice from the DMK for Sadiq's remarks. At the same time, the DMK has been regularly denigrating out motherland for years. The BJP State President, Annamalai and the Women's Wing cadres and party office-bearers who attended the protest have been arrested. But, Sadiq, however, is yet to be arrested in spite of insulting women. Annamalai and the women who sought justice have been arrested.

We strongly condemn the DMK Government for this act. Sadiq should be removed from the party and arrested. Minister Mano Thangaraj and DMK functionaries should apologise to the women of Tamil Nadu for not stopping the man at the meeting itself from continung to spew deragatory remarks against women. The DMK President and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, M K Stalin should take immediate steps to protect the dignity of women of Tamil Nadu," demanded the BJP State Vice-President, Prof. Kanakasabapathy.
