Coimbatore: The women's team from PSG College of Arts and Science (PSG CAS) remained unbeaten to emerge as champions in the Bharathiar University inter-collegiate chess tournament, organised by Dr. R V Arts and Science College in Karamadai.
Coimbatore: The women's team from PSG College of Arts and Science (PSG CAS) remained unbeaten to emerge as champions in the Bharathiar University inter-collegiate chess tournament, organised by Dr. R V Arts and Science College in Karamadai.

Winning all the matches in the tournament, PSG CAS took the lead at the table with 12 points followed by PSGR Krishnammal College for Women with one loss which secured for them the second place in the tournament. Vellalar College for Women and Nirmala College for Women won the third and fourth places, respectively.
In the men's category PSG CAS, Government Arts College, Coimbatore and Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidhyalaya were leading after Round
5. The final in the men's category will be held tomorrow.

In the women's singles event, S K Shivashankari and R Gayetri of PSG CAS and Vidhya Vahini of STC Pollachi were leading the table with 4 points each. Around 42 colleges from Coimbatore, Tirupur and Erode competed with each other fiercely.
