Coimbatore : A district-level carrom competition for school students was held by the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT) at Nehru Stadium here in the city on Tuesday.

More than 50 players including 27 girls from around 12 schools participated in the tournament which is being conducted for both boys and girls under two categories up to Class 5 and from Standard 6 to 12.

In the boys category upto Class 5, R Hariharan of Stanes Anglo Indian School secured the first place. R Sandeep of Mani Higher Secondary School won the competition in the boys category from Grades 6 to 12.. In the boys doubles category, Bavanesh Kumar and Yeswanth of Vasavi Vidhyalaya and Hari Priya and Jana Ranjini of Vasavi Vidhyalaya won the tournament and emerged winners.

The winners of various categories have thus qualified for the state-level carrom competitions to be held by SDAT and winners were awarded with cash prizes by SDAT.
