Coimbatore : The first baby league in Tamil Nadu was launched by First kick school of Soccer in the city on Saturday. Baby league is a football league where children of age group between 5 years to 10 years compete.
Coimbatore : The first baby league in Tamil Nadu was launched by First kick school of Soccer in the city on Saturday. Baby league is a football league where children of age group between 5 years to 10 years compete.
This is the 4th baby league in India by All India Football Federation (AIFF) to revamp its grassroots development program. Baby league is intended to involve greater participation from children starting from the age of five years centered as much around match-play as it is around skills development.
The league is organised under two age categories- Under 8 years and Under 10 years of age. In Under 8 category, 12 teams are participating and in the Under 10 category, there are 17 teams including three girls team. Every team should have 10% of female players.
R Ragupathy IRS, Assistant Commissioner, Income Tax inaugurated the league. In the inauguration match of the league, Dr. Dasarathan international school and Red Eagles competed. Children of both teams exhibited their skills. Red eagles won the match 0-1. Rithik of Red Eagles scored a goal for his team.
