In order to create awareness on neurological disorders, KCSA and Swarga Foundation jointly organized a marathon on Sunday. More than 800 people took part in the marathon that was conducted in three categories- 5km, 10km and 21km at Vidya Vikas Matriculation Higher Secondary School from 7am. The oldest participant, an 86-year-old man, took part in the 10km race. Member of legislative assembly, Mettupalayam, O K Chinnaraj flagged off the marathon.Swarnalatha J, managing trustee of Swarga Foundation, who interacted with the participants spoke about the need to diagnose neurological disorders in early stages. She said, "I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at the age of 29. Though I was aware of the symptoms, I hesitated in telling it out. Had got it diagnosed earlier, I would not have suffered this much." Apart from early diagnosis, she also spoke about how to tackle the disease. She said, "If people are made aware of the medical facilities and given proper expert guidance, they can treat the disease. Also, it is important to stay from technology."
