As many as 73 students of Mullai Martial Arts and Sports Academy have created a record in the art of Silambam .
Coimbatore:Mullai Martial Arts and Sports Academy, which has been teaching silamba art to school children for the past eight years in Chinnavedampatti area of Coimbatore, has been creating achievements on the basis of various initiatives to appreciate the art learnt by the students.

As part of this, 73 students of Mullai Martial Arts and Sports Academy have created a record by performing Silambam by tying ribbons on both sides of Silambam for about 2 hours and 20 minutes at a time.

They have set a record for 2 hours and 20 minutes at the same time, tying ribbons on both sides of the silamba sticks.
Speaking to reporters as part of the event, Prakash Raj, Coimbatore district president of the American Book of Records, said:
On the occasion of Children's Day, this world record event was organized to promote children's education, to prevent dropouts and to prevent crimes against children, and to create awareness among the public about it, which was recognised by the American Book of World Records and honoured with certificates, trophies and medals to 73 students, he said.
Earlier in the day, Saddam Hussain, Director, American Book of Records, and Prakash Raj, Coimbatore District President, American Book of Records felicitated the 73 achievers by presenting certificates, trophies and medals.

Members of Mullai Martial Arts Association and the general public, the parents of the students and many others participated in the event and congratulated the students for their achievements.
