Coimbatore District Collector GS Sameeran chaired a meeting at the District Collectorate on Thursday to welcome the 44th International Chess Olympiad Jyothi on behalf of the Coimbatore district administration and to carry out awareness programmes.
Coimbatore: The 44th Edition of the International Chess Olympiad will be held in Mamallapuram on October 28 and the torch for the same will be taken to every district.
It is expected that the torch will be brought to Coimbatore district on the 25th. The Coimbatore district administration will welcome the 44th International Chess Olympiad flame torch on behalf of the district administration and take up awareness programmes.

Various suggestions for the reception were discussed at the meeting. The meeting was attended by Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner Prathap, District Revenue Officer Leela Alex, Project Director of District Rural Development Agency Kavitha, Corporation Deputy Commissioner Sharmila and other government officials.
