Coimbatore: Marathon for youngsters held by Pollachi Police witnesses enthusiastic participation
Coimbatore: Youngsters eagerly participated in the marathon held yesterday on behalf of the police in Pollachi yesterday.

The marathon started in Pollachi at the Mahalingapuram Roundabout in memory of martyred policemen. SP Sivakumar took the lead and started the race. The competitions were held in two categories, male and female under 10 years of age.
The male team started at Roundtana and went up to Vadakkipalayam Pirivu and came back to the point of origin. In the female category, they went from Roundtana to Cheran Nagar and came back again to the starting point. More than a hundred youngsters participated in the race and displayed their talents. In the men's category, Forest Hills Academy School's Durai bagged the first prize, Kalai from Anaimalai Government School came second and STC College's Bharathikannan was placed third.
Vikashini, Litanya and Dhanush Mathi from Forest Hill School bagged the first three places in the girl's category.

Prizes and certificates were distributed to the winners. Athletic Club Suresh, NGM College Physical Education Director Ashok Kumar, Physical Education Teacher John and Sivanathan coordinated the competition.
Inspectors, Sub-Inspectors, many cops and others participated in the event. Coronavirus prevention pledge was taken before the start of the event. A 2-minute silent tribute was also paid. Awareness was raised about wearing masks and observance of social distancing.
