S. Sakthivel's brilliant bowling spell of 6 for 4 helped RKS Kalvinilayam Higher Secondary School to register a thumping win over T.K.S Matric Higher Secondary School in the opening game of Junior Super Kings T20 inter School tournament held on Monday at PSG medical college ground.
Batting first in the opening game of the tournament, RKS with the help of Saravanan's 47 had scored 131 in 20 overs. Chasing a mammoth total on board, TKS boys failed to handle the pressure from the opposition bowlers.
Man of the match Sakthivel scalped six to bundle the opposition for 35 runs, managing to clinch victory by 96 runs.
Scores : RKS Kalvinilayam H.S.S 131/4 in 20 Overs (P.Saravanan 47, V.Rejin 3/28) defeated T.K.S M.H.S.S 35/9 in 17.3 Overs (S.Sakthivel 6/4).
The 6th edition of the tournament sponsored by The Muthoot Group and supported by TNCA kicked off today in the city. The tournament is aimed to provide a platform for the school kids to exhibit their cricketing skills and keep driving their dreams to reach the pinnacle in this sport.
The first phase of the tournament will be held at Chennai and and 14 other districts which will include Coimbatore, Trichy, Salem, Namakkal, Erode, Tiruppur, Vellore, Nilgiris, Dindigul, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Tuticorin, Villuppuram and Tiruvannamalai.
The final phase for the winners of Districts and the winner & runners of Chennai will be held at Tirunelveli to identify the ultimate winner of the Junior Super Kings Inter School T20 Championship 2019.
