Coimbatore: Over 300 students from various schools in the city actively took part in the 'B' Zone Inter School Chess Tournament hosted by Corporation Higher Secondary School, Sidhapudur at on Thursday.
Coimbatore: Over 300 students from various schools in the city actively took part in the 'B' Zone Inter School Chess Tournament hosted by Corporation Higher Secondary School, Sidhapudur at on Thursday.
As a part of the tournament, Chess competition for school students was conducted under various age categories - under 11,14,17 and 19 years for boys and girls.
In the under 11, girls category, Sahana M (St. Joseph) and U.S Theekshika (Alvernia) secured the first two places respectively. While A Kowshika (Sri Ramakrishna MHSS) and G Shri Shivani (VCV Sishu Vidhyala) finished at the top.
In the under 17 category, V. Elakkiya (Corporation School, Rathinapuri) and N Soundarya (Govt School, Ganapathy) emerged victorious. And, M.S. Dhanya Sree (St. Mary's) and S Vikashini (Corporation GHSS) emerged victorious in under 19 category.
In boys section, G. Vetri Selvan (Vijaya Vidhyalaya), Sri Hari Nathan (VCV Shishu) won in the under 11 category and while in the under 14, G. Kishore Kumar (S.E.S MHSS) and A.S. Vashin Adhraya (Vivekalaya) finished top.
In the under 17 category, C. Mukhesh (Trinity MHSS) and R. Sreejith (Corp School, Sidhapudur) emerged successful and Samson D Cruze J (Stanes) and Siva Shanmugam S (Carmel Garden) were the winners in their respective category.
