The Communist Party of India (Marxist) Politburo member, G Ramakrishnan has made a request to the party candidates who won the urban local polls to use their powers to improve educational institutions
Coimbatore: The CPI (M) Politburo member, G Ramakrishnan met the candidates who emerged victorious in the urban local body elections on Thursday at the party office.
G Ramakrishnan, a member of the CPI Marxist’s political bureau, appealed to the members of the Marxist Party to exercise the power of the council members in municipal and town panchayat areas to take extra care in improving educational conditions.
The candidates of Communist Marxist Party, V Ramamurthy ward 12,R. Bhupathi ward 24, N Sumathi, ward 13, Kannagi Jyoti Basu, 28th Ward, R. Priya, ward 1 of Karamadai Municipality, N. Sivaraj,ward 8 in Periyanaickenpalayam Town Panchayat, Umadevi, ward1,Stalinkumar, ward 8, Irugur Town Panchayat, Rajeshwari Shanmugam, who won at ward 3, Mohammed Museer, ward 8 Annur,, Manikandan at ward 5, M Veluswamy, Sulur Town Panchayat ward 7,Karpagam Kuppuraj, Idikarai Town panchayat, ward 13, and Sathukutty, at 15 of Vettaikaranpudur, won the urban local polls contesting in alliance with DMK for CPI (M).
They met and greeted party political bureau member G Ramakrishnan and state committee member K Kamaraj at the Coimbatore district committee office of the Communist Party of India Marxist in Gandhipuram. Following this, the leaders honoured the winning members with shawls. Addressing the candidates, G Ramakrishnan stated that the political observes of TN are watching the results of Coimbatore district in urban local body elections. He stated that AIADMK, who were proud calling Coimbatore their fortress has won just three seats in the city, while the BJP, who called themselves the supreme power have lost deposits in 86 wards.
One of the leaders said 'The DMK alliance has achieved great success not only in the corporation but also in the municipality and town panchayats. On behalf of the state committee of the party, I congratulate the winners of the Marxist Party for their success.'
Adding that the assembly and parliamentary constituency is huge and there is difficulty in approaching people directly, which is where local body representatives come into play. He wanted his party candidates, who have won the elections to solve the public’s queries and should take steps to solve the basic problems of the people on their daily basis.
'At the same time, we should use the power to take steps to improve and upgrade educational institutions in our area. Focusing on the goal of education for all will help families improve their standards.'
