Woman killed in two-wheeler collision at S Mettupalayam near Kinathukadavu. Labourer arrested for riding under the influence of alcohol.
Coimbatore: Satish Kumar (33) and his wife Muthili (29) from Choolakkal near Kinathukadavu in Coimbatore district have a daughter.
Satish Kumar's wife Mythili was riding her two-wheeler with her grandmother Muthammal riding pillion on S Mettupalayam Aranmanaiputhur road last evening. A speeding two-wheeler collided head-on with the Mythili’s two-wheeler, in the impact of which Mythili and her grandmother Muthammal were seriously injured.
The two were rushed to the Pollachi Government Hospital by an ambulance. Mythili who was critically injured, died on the way to hospital. The seriously injured mother-in-law has been admitted to the Coimbatore Government Hospital for further treatment.
Stalin Selvin Raja (21), a labourer from Devarayapuram area in Kinathukadavu was arrested for riding under the influence of alcohol and causing an accident. Police are prosecuting him under the Non-Homicide Act. Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police Selvanagaratnam has warned to crack the whip for driving under influence.
