Coimbatore: The local artists are thrilled to exhibit their artistry at the Art Street- Oviya Santhai to be hosted as part of the Coimbatore Vizha 2022 events conducted in Coimbatore.
Coimbatore Vizha is an initiative facilitated by many organizations and the people of Coimbatore for the last 13 years to celebrate the spirit of the city. Art Street-Oviya Santhai a celebration of art and artists has been a part of the Vizha right from its inception.
Art Street is scheduled to be hosted on the 8th and 9th of January 2022 with the prescribed Covid guidelines at Race Course. As many as 60 artists have registered to take participate in the event. A workshop and art party that will cater to people of all ages are also planned both virtual and in-person.
The workshop will be held at the Brookefileds Mall on the 2nd Jan 2022, an event designed to promote art as a mode of relaxation and fun. Further details can be obtained on the website, www.coimbatorevizha.com/art-street for more details.
“In the tenth edition, the idea was brought to take art into the streets and bring about a celebratory atmosphere where one and all can take part in the joyous occasion, thereby creating a platform for the artists in our region. With this as the theme, Art Street was held on Scheme Road in Race Course, Coimbatore with various tributes to art, music, and food.
The event is usually held over two days and attracts more than 30,000 people. In 2018, the umbrella exhibit was a cynosure for all eyes and in 2019, ‘The Shades of Nature’ and ‘I Love Kovai’ exhibits were cherished by everybody. Followed by these in 2020, we had the theme, ‘Thoughts & Reflections’; which was showcased by an interactive colorful acrylic installation that reflected light in myriad ways.
In addition to the exhibits, a variety of workshops were held for kids and adults, ranging from umbrella painting, pottery, basket making to simple paintings,” the organizers stated in a press release.
The art street 2021 was a virtual event in which artwork of over 60 artists was displayed in a grand 3D virtual art gallery and created a platform for the artists across the globe.
