Coimbatore: Leopard roaming at night near a private college campus in Coimbatore's Kuniyamuthur area has triggered panic among the residents.
On Tuesday night, a leopard had reportedly entered the college premises and killed a dog.
Seeing the corpse this morning, the college staff had alerted the forest department who arrived to the spot and investigated the paw marks and confirmed the leopard movement.
Meanwhile the residents of Pillaiyarpuram, Kovaiputhur, Kuniyamuthur and BK Puthur adjoining the Madukkarai forest range in Coimbatore have raised concern to the forest department regarding frequent leopard movement in their area.
Supporting their claim, a recently captured CCTV footage of a leopard roaming in the same area has been released. In the video, the leopard can be seen entering into the backyard.
