Coimbatore: The Social Justice Cleanliness Workers Association submitted a petition at the Coimbatore District Collector seeing an increase in wage and to alter the work timings for the sanitary workers.

The Social Justice Cleanliness Workers Association submitted a petition at the Collectorate urging to increase in the wages of cleanliness workers and change their working hours.
In the petition it was stated that while only ₹ 100 has been paid by the Corporation administration to date to the employees of Panchayats in the district, the workers insisted on an increase in pay to ₹ 475. In the petition, it was stated that action should be taken to change the working hours.
At present, the workers begin working at 5 am, which they requested to shift to 7 am, keeping in mind their family situation and the winter season.
