Coimbatore: The District Collector GS Sameeran inaugurated the Tamil Nadu Handlooms and Textiles Department Sales Exhibition on Wednesday held at a private hall in Coimbatore.
The Handloom Exhibition organized by the Textile Department of Government of India and The Tamil Nadu Government Handloom Department is being held in various districts.
The expo commences on 29th December, Wednesday in Coimbatore, held at a private hall (Meenakshi Hall) on Avinashi Road. The District Collector GS Sameeran inaugurated the event and learned in detail about the garments being sold at the expo.
About 40 societies in Coimbatore and its surrounding areas are participating in the exhibition. A 6.20-m silk saree of Sri Ramalinga Saudambigai Weavers of Sirumugaipudur that won the National Award for the imprint of Thiruvalluvar and Thirukkural, the saree with 1,64,492-colors, and the one with Madurai Meenakshi Amman print along with the seven wonders of the world hugely lured the visitors.
The exhibition, which will be held till the 12th of January, will sell various types of sarees, blankets, dhotis, and pieces at a discount of 30%. No entre free to visit the expo.
