Coimbatore: Vijayan is from the Ratnapuri area of Coimbatore. His son was Shriram alias Monkey Shriram (22). On the 20th, Shriram and his friend Gavas Khan (23) were travelling by bike from Ratnapuri to Thudiyalur via Anjugam Nagar.
A gang of four men who followed them on two bikes stopped Shriram and Gavas Khan and threatened them with weapons including a machete. They attacked them in which Sriram collapsed in a pool of blood.
Gavas Khan escaped unharmed. Following this, the gang escaped from there on the two-wheeler they came on. Sriram died on the way to the hospital.
Following this, the Saravanampatti police with the CCTV footage conducted an investigation. It was revealed that Gokul and his friends were the ones who hacked Sriram to death.
In a bid to crack the case, two separate forces were formed to nab the accused. Sujinkumar, Gokul, Raveendran and Manikandan, who were wanted by the police in the case of Shriram's murder surrendered in the Egmore court in Chennai.
