The 37th death anniversary of veteran farmer leader, Narayanaswamy Naidu was commemorated in the city by various politicians. The Tamil Nadu Farmers’ Association has requested to declare the death anniversary as ‘Farmers Day’.

The 37th anniversary of the death of Narayanasamy Naidu, the Farmer's Leader who raised his voice in favour of the farmers in Tamil Nadu, was observed and a memorial service was held on behalf of The Tamil Nadu Farmers’ Association at a private hall opposite the office of the District Superintendent of Police, Coimbatore. The farmers' union paid floral tributes to his photograph.
It was attended by several people, including Palaniswami, president of the Tamil Nadu Farmers’ Association.
The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has been requested to declare the day as Farmers Day and that the Tamil Nadu government should alleviate the status of the coconut industry. They further demanded to add information about veteran farm leaders to be included in the syllabus of educational institutions.
