Emergency Medical Assistant and Ambulance Driver helped a blind woman in labour deliver her baby boy while on the way to the hospital. Manickam (37) is a native of Palladam Arivoli Nagar in Tirupur is an incense vendor, and is a visually impaired person. His wife, Rohini, (28) also visually impaired, went into labour on Tuesday, after which the couple was taken to the Tirupur Government Hospital in an ambulance.
Rohini, who suffered severe pain, gave birth to a baby boy in the ambulance near Palavanjipalayam, with the help of the Emergency Medical Assistant staff, Easwari who was in the ambulance,. The driver Satish Kumar, also assisted the medical staff to bring new life to the world. The mother and the baby were later taken to the Government Medical College Hospital for further treatment.
The couple, both visually impaired, had a love marriage last year after having met each other a few times.
