Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Commission issues notice to Tirupur Collector; Seek report on school incident of headmistress forcing students to clean toilets in Tirupur

The Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Commission has sought a report from both the Tirupur Collector and Police Commissioner on the incident where a school headmistress harassed students by making them clean toilets and spewed caste slurs.


Tirupur: The Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Commission has ordered the Tirupur Collector S Vineeth and the Police Commissioner Shashank Sai to issue a report on the incident where a school headmistress harassed students by making them clean toilets and spewed caste slurs.



At the Government High School in Iduvai near Tirupur, the Headmistress, Geetha (45) has been suspended a few days ago after students approached the District Principal Educational Officer Ramesh seeking action for her casteist remarks against students and making them clean toilets in the school. The Educational Officer conducted an inquiry with the students and the headmistress in person and ordered her suspension.

The Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Commission has now issued a notice to the Tirupur Collector and Police Commissioner seeking a report at the earliest on the derogatory incident.

More than 400 students study in the school located in Iduvai near Tirupur. Out of 14 teachers, 12 are permanent teachers and 2 are part-time teachers. Geetha has been serving as the Headmistress of the school for the past three years. A few days ago, there was a complaint by the students against Geetha that she had spoken derogatory words, abused them by caste names, and made them clean the toilets.
