Coimbatore: The Hindustan Makkal Seva members have filed a petition with the District Coimbatore Collector G S Sameeran, demanding action against those smuggling cattle to Kerala, by breaking the law.
The Hindustan Makkal Seva Movement, led by founder Manikandan petitioned the Coimbatore Collector demanding action on those smuggling cattle to Kerala. They alleged that country cattle are being smuggled to Kerala using containers for slaughter from Coimbatore, violating the rules. 30 cows were taken in a truck while the Transport Act of the State has stipulated that only 5 cows can be ferried through vehicles.
The petition demanded that the District Collector, the District Superintendent of Police, the Coimbatore District Veterinary Director and Animal Rights organizations must take appropriate action against those involved in the smuggling of cows.
