The 61st state-level Sports Meet for police officials will be conducted till Dec. 17.
Coimbatore: The 61st state-level Sports Meet for police officials in Coimbatore was inaugurated by the Additional Director General of Police, Abhay Kumar Singh on Wednesday, and will be conducted till December 17.
Even as the 61st state-level Sports Meet kick-started at the Nehru Sports Ground Stadium, the ADGP was honoured with a parade by the sportsmen.
The competitions in various categories will be held between December 15 and 17. The competitions began today with the 800 m race, followed by the women's 100 m race, men's 100 m sprint, shot put, high jump, long jump, pole vault, discuss throw, 400 meters, 110 m and 3000 m relay.
A total of 450 players are participating in the competitions from seven divisions, including the Armed Forces Police Grade, Chennai North Pole, South Pole, Thrust John, Central John Commando.
The opening ceremony was attended by many officials including the Coimbatore City Police Commissioner Pradeep Kumar, Western Region IG Sudhakar, Coimbatore City Deputy Commissioners Jayachandran and Uma and Chennai DIG Ezhilarasan.
