Kalaignar Urban Development Scheme: Min. Senthil Balaji inaugurates laying of tarred road in Vellalore area

Construction work on the tarred road and retaining wall at Coimbatore Vellalore Municipality, Temple Avenue and Government Employees' Residence was launched today as part of the Kalaignar Urban Development Scheme.


Coimbatore: As part of the TN budget announcement, a new project called the 'Kalaignar Urban Development Scheme' is to be implemented at a cost of Rs.1,000 crores.

According to the plan, underground sewerage projects in 27 cities in Tamil Nadu with a population of over one lakh, ensuring 100 percent segregation of garbage, creation of garbage-free cities, upgrading of all dirt roads in municipalities and municipalities, restoration of water bodies, setting up of parks and recreation facilities, projects for tree planting and upgrading of school buildings, pharmacies, libraries, etc. will be implemented.

Accordingly, construction work on the tarred road and retaining wall at Coimbatore Vellalore Municipality, Temple Avenue and Government Employees' Residence was launched today on behalf of the Kalaignar Urban Development Project. The project was launched by Electricity, Prohibition and Excise Minister, Senthil Balaji, on Tuesday. The event was attended by the Coimbatore District Collector, G S Sameeran and Assistant Director of Municipalities, Dwarak Nath Singh.
