A 39-year-old godman has been robbed of ₹3 lakh rupees by his acquaintance, who had been staying at the former’s house for the past few days.
Coimbatore: A 39-year-old godman has been robbed of ₹3 lakh rupees by his acquaintance, who had been staying at his house for the past few days.
Rajendran alias Anbe Sivam, robbed ₹3 lakhs from Gautham, another godman with whom he had developed a friendship, during his stay with the latter. Gautham had withdrawn the cash he safe-kept in his bank.
Gautham, 39, son of Mannarsamy of Neelikonampalayam area next to Singanallur runs his own pharmaceutical company. Reportedly, Gautham involved himself in spiritual work due to the pandemic curfew last year. Gautham who visited Chaturagiri hills in Virudhunagar district frequently made acquaintance with Rajendran alias Anbe Sivam and the latter gave him knowledge on herbs and medicines.
Rajendran has also sent a few herbal medicines to Gautham, which he provided to his friends and family. On Gautham’s invite, Rajendran visited Gautham’s house in Coimbatore and had been providing tips on preparing medicines and oils for sale as he stayed here. Gautham also paid for the food, shelter, and expenses Rajendran needed.
Gautam who withdrew ₹3 lakh from the bank which he received for the house lease, placed the cash in the living room, was taken by surprise the next day as Rajendran was missing from the house with the cash. Gautham lodged a complaint with the Singanallur police after a thorough search. Allegedly, Rajendran's mobile was also not reachable.
Police are on the search for Swami Rajendran. Police have received information that Swami Rajendran lived apart from the family 15 years ago and his family was in Chennai. Serious interrogations are underway.
