The bodies of the 13 deceased in the Coonoor chopper crash, including CDS General Bipin Rawat and his wife are being taken to the Sulur Air Base in Coimbatore by ambulances.
The Nilgiris: Even as news of the Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat, his wife and 11 other army personnel having died in a chopper crash in Katteri, near Coonoor in Nilgiris was relayed across the country, grief engulfed the nation. The bodies of the 13 deceased in the crash were brought to the Sulur Air Base by ambulances.
Final tributes were paid to the deceased soldiers at the Coonoor Wellington Military Training Camp early this morning and the bodies are now arriving at the Sulur Air Base, by ambulances.
Public gathered all along the Mettupalayam road, raising slogans and saluting the CDS General Bipin Rawat and the other 12 deceased. Police security has been tightened from Coimbatore to Sulur.
