The Nilgiris: The Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat and his wife Madhulika Rawat and 11 other persons on board lost their lives in a tragic helicopter crash in Coonoor, on Wednesday.
The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, M K Stalin rushed to Coimbatore at 5 pm today en route to inquire and inspect the site of the chopper crash.
He then went by road to Coonoor where he held a 15-minute consultation with senior army officials, Nilgiris Collector S P Amrith and army officials. Later, the Chief Minister left to rest at a private hotel in Coonoor.
More than 600 policemen from Coimbatore, Nilgiris and Tirupur districts have been deployed in Coonoor area.
