The condition of the Chief of Defence Staff General, Bipin Rawat who was one among those on board the IAF helicopter heading toward Wellington which crashed near Coonoor a few hours ago, is still unknown.
The Nilgiris: There has been no official confirmation from the hospital yet on the condition of Chief of Defence Staff General, Bipin Rawat who was one among those who were on board the army chopper crash near Coonoor a few hours ago.

The CDS chief was traveling to the Wellington Defence Staff College from the Sulur Air Force Base in Coimbatore. The helicopter reportedly crashed with 14 members on board which included Chief Rawat and his wife.

The army is involved in the rescue operations while the helicopter still seems to be engulfed in flames on the spot. Four persons have reportedly died. Doctors from Coimbatore have rushed to Coonoor to help those injured in the accident.
