The funds collected for the family members of the martyrs and ex-soldiers who were injured or disabled in the line of duty was received by the District Collector on Armed Forces Flag Day.
Coimbatore: Coimbatore District Collector G S Sameeran received the funds collected for the armed forces on Tuesday, on the occasion of Armed Forces Flag Day.
Armed Forces Flag Day is observed on December 7 every year in India to commemorate martyrs, the injured and disabled soldiers of the armed forces who were in the line of duty. Funds are collected from people for the welfare of families of the armed forces. The Coimbatore Collector thus inaugurated the 'fund collection' for the welfare of the armed forces' families on the occasion of the National Armed Forces Flag Day which was observed in the city.
“The funds collected this year is ₹.195 crores which is an amount that exceeded expectations, and we are expecting 200 percent more funds to be collected in the coming year," stated the Collector.
The event was attended by the tri-services Chief, Sarathi, Corporation Commissioner Raja Gopal Sunkara, police, ex-servicemen and others.
