Coimbatore District Collector allots land for Kallargudi Kadar tribe

Coimbatore District Collector said the Kallargudi Kadar tribe will be allotted 12-acres of residential land in the old Kallargudi at the same level at Theppakulam.


Coimbatore: The land survey, which took place yesterday, and the housing allotment program is cancelled. It was said the Kallargudi Kadar tribe will be allotted an equal amount of land on the 12-acres of residential land in the old Kallargudi at Theppakulam where they can build a house separately in a safe area.

In a week or two, a new land survey will be carried out under the leadership of the Pollachi Collector and sufficient space will be allotted. After that the resolution is passed in the special village council meeting and the houses can be set up immediately. The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by District Collector Sameeran.

MG Ganesan Field Deputy Director Anaimalai Tiger Reserve, District Superintendent of Police Lilavati Tanaraj, State Adithravidar Tribal Welfare Member, Ramkumar, District Tribal Welfare Officer, Valparai Police Inspector Karbagam, Vattatsiyar Kumar and Kallar Theppakulamedu were among those present.

It was also decided at the meeting that the tombs would be provided to 5 deserving families and places would be provided subject to conditions for the construction of adequate structures for the traditional rituals of residence, worship and cultural practices. The main task of the state is to protect the rights of the tribes. Safe package houses will be built on the leased land. Fully inspected medical facilities will be set up to protect the endangered tribes. It was announced that a Tribal Redressal Day meeting will be held on a specific day of the month to address the grievances of the tribal people living in the area under the Pollachi Revenue Division.
