There are one or two government buses and one private bus on this route. One has to go to government high schools in Mettupalayam and Pujanganur areas for higher study from various places including Thekkampatti, Velspuram, Vel Nagar, Nellithurai, Vilamarathur, Poothappallam under Thekkampatti panchayat.
More than 100 students travelling from these areas to Mettupalayam schools have to take this bus. There is also the accusation that it does not come on time. The students have to come to the Mahadevapuram bus stand to go home after school every evening. At that time, the 8A government bus that arrived at the bus stop, picked up the students who were standing at the bus stop. Also, it is said that some students were dropped off at the next bus stop due to overcrowding.
Thus, the students took an auto rickshaw back home and reached a few hours late. Parents were frustrated that students who are supposed to arrive on time had not come home on time. With crimes against children and women on the rise, such acts by a few bus drivers and operators are likely to bring the entire state into disrepute. According to the parents, if this is the situation they cannot go to work every day and they will have to send the children in private cars every day. Parents have also demanded that additional buses be run on the route.
